Legal Status

Preston University, Ajman, was established in 2001 under a Concession Agreement and an Ameeri Decree granted by the Government of Ajman with the kind approval of His Highness, Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Ajman. As of September 2009, under the blessings of the Government of Ajman, Preston University, Ajman is now fully accredited by the Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan.

Preston University imparts knowledge and skills to numerous individuals through several academic programs. The University will continue to fulfill its responsibilities to society by creating and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth for individuals who wish to pursue careers in the fields of Business, Information Technology, Fashion Design and Islamic Studies.

Degree Program Goals

Preston University offers degree programs which provide students with the opportunity to obtain a top-quality education in an environment engineered to foster the skills, knowledge, behaviors, and predispositions which will yield significant dividends to its graduates and the societies in which they are prepared to serve. In short, we strive to prepare our students for three essential facets of life: What they are expected to KNOW, THINK ABOUT, and BE ABLE TO DO by the time of graduation and beyond.

Degree Affiliation

Preston University, Ajman, UAE, is fully- accredited and recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan. Students who fulfill all requirements of a degree program at Preston University, Ajman, receive their degrees and transcripts from Preston University Kohat, Pakistan. However, the attestation of degrees is subject to the fulfillment of procedural requirements of the HEC, Pakistan.

Alternatively, students may pursue other degree options under collaborative arrangements that Preston University, Ajman maintains with other universities worldwide.

Preston University also cannot guarantee nor will it promise recognition or attestation of its degrees or certificates by the Government of Ajman or the U.A.E Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Facilities

The Preston-Ajman campus has extensive academic facilities which include classrooms, computer laboratories, a library, abundant workspace for faculty and administrative staff members, plus common areas for students, along with a cafeteria.

All classrooms and workspaces are air-conditioned. The latest audiovisual equipment, including video and slide projectors, is available for faculty and student use.


Library Resources
The University Library contains the latest editions of leading textbooks, periodicals, reference materials, and daily newspapers, along with a dedicated, knowledgeable staff readily available to assist students, faculty, and other users.  New books and periodicals are continuously added to the library collection.

Computer workstations are available for all library users for the conduct of various activities, including internet research, electronic mail management, e-Book reading, and word processing.

The Islamic Studies and Fashion Design Departments also maintain libraries which contain reference materials and resources for their respective disciplines.

Students receive library cards which allow them to borrow books and other resources available for loan from the library whenever required.

All authorized users are encouraged to take advantage of the many library resources and services available for research and other academic activities.

Computer Resources
The University has four computer laboratories equipped with the latest microcomputer, workstation, and server technologies to enhance learning outcomes in any field of study.

The highly knowledgeable and dedicated IT staff members provide effective support for all University computing activities and is available for assistance whenever needed.

Transportation Services
The University offers transportation services for all students at a most reasonable cost.  Round-trip transportation is available for both the morning and evening class sessions. The service area includes Al Ain, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain. Contact the University Administration for further details.

IT Services
Our primary objective is to maintain the information and data infrastructure for Preston University-Ajman. This includes local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN), audio and video, internet and intranet security, digital authentication and legal coverage to secure IT-related facilities.
We supervise the Network Services Section and are responsible for fulfilling the computer processing and IT-related needs of all the constituent units, academic departments, administrative staff, and students at the University. We also maintain the computer labs for use by the Business Administration, English, Fashion Design, Interior Design, and IT departments. The network administrators, technicians, and other lab staff work hard to ensure everything stays "up-and-running".
