Events Committee
The Events Committee consists of faculty members and staff from different departments at Preston University-Ajman. The primary mission of this committee is to organize meaningful activities for students on campus and manage events and off-campus competition in the UAE. The committee organizes annual events such as Cultural Day, Spring Fiesta, New Year's Party, Fashion Bazaar, and others. The committee also strives to continuously increase the range of events that can lead to further developing student careers.
We plan on continuing to provide students with a platform where they can showcase their skills and build greater confidence when they face the many challenges of life ahead.
It is said that "Music is what feelings sound like, " and the Preston Musical Society (PMS) is one of the active clubs at Preston University-Ajman that attempts to translate this saying into reality.
With the combined interest of Preston-Ajman alumni Yousuf, Faraz, and Iqbal, the PMS, initiated by Salman Yousuf, was launched in June 2008 with its first live performance at the university that grabbed hundreds of students to cheer and acknowledge them.
PMS, in their own studio [Preston Studios] at the campus, facilitates different music genres ranging from classical to rock music. They have one united group called "PMS" under which many cultures and genres live. Arabic tradition has its own forte while western-style music keeps its own magnetism with the students at the University.
"The vision of PMS, is to provide a platform for talented students to express their passion towards the practicality of life, to polish their music skills, and to share the joy of a universal language." – Salman Yousuf
Music is called the universal language of the world for many reasons. First and foremost, music is made up of seven main notes. No matter what part of the world you live in or what instrument you play, all the music created involves at least one of these seven notes. There may be different names for all seven notes in different parts of the world, but for the performer, they are still the same. Secondly, music as an art form can reach the deepest parts of your heart and soul. You don’t have to be a patient or a psychologist to understand music. As long as any melody and rhythm make you feel like yourself, it is the best doctor a person can find and the best remedy anyone can recommend. Finally, music, like any other language, can express any and all types of emotion. But where it scores most is where the words fall short of expressing but the music can go on and on "vocalizing" all that you ever want to say.
That is what the team visualizes for everyone. It all started with a group of a few students. PMS takes pride in all its executive members (Zain, Mohsin, Ashish, Younus, Abbas, Hasnain, and Irfan) known as STUDios P! Their dedication and loyalty are promising and provide the basis for its popularity all around. There are many upcoming bands which may differ in genre, styles, and mood. The leadership of the PMS wholeheartedly invites them all.
All the members are thankful to the faculty members as well as the management of Preston University-Ajman for believing in their vision and appreciating their capabilities.
"If music be the food of life, play on" - Shakespeare

Toastmasters
Toastmasters International is a worldwide non-profit organization that offers its members opportunities to practice and perfect their communication and leadership skills. Most Toastmasters' meetings compromise of around 20 people who meet weekly/monthly durative of a couple of hours.
One such eventful meeting took place in Area 8, on the 5th of March, at Preston University- Ajman. Four different clubs took part in the event - The Preston Toastmasters Club, The Sharjah Toastmasters Club, The Our Own Toastmasters Club and The Oasis Achievers Club. At 8:30 A.M 5 judges and the contestants started arriving and our volunteers were present with warm smiles as they welcomed the honorary guests in.
The competition started off with the International Speech, in which Preston Toastmasters Mr. Kashif Q. and Mr. Hamid Hamapour also participated. A variety of topics and issues were brought up by the contestants, which triggered the audiences' minds to think critically and constructively. Followed by this was The Speech Evaluation contest including the Preston Toastmasters Ms. Javeria Fathima Zaidi and Ms. Aysha Hussain. In this phase, the contestants were to appraise a speech and put forward their evaluation. The Table Topic round took place next, which involved the participation of Mr. Kashif Q. and Ms. Javeria Fathima Zaidi. Here, the participants were individually called upon the stage and were asked their opinion/response about a particular situation that they could be in. And last but not least, was The Humorous Speech in which Toastmasters Mr. Kashif Q. and Nastaran Khalil took part. As the name suggests, the speeches were to have a touch of humor in them, the idea being to make the people laugh.
A refreshing end to this competition came in the form of a display of dancing skills presented by 4 talented boys from Preston, while the judges made their final decisions. As all things come to an end the awards ceremony took place in which the trophies were distributed to the prize winners and certificates were awarded to the volunteers. Mr. Kashif Q. won 1st prize in the Humorous Speech and brought the trophy home.
