Pakistan Floods - a Disaster Like Never Before

The unrelenting floods in Pakistan have already affected more than 12 million people, destroyed over 600,000 homes and killed more than 2,000 people. The monstrous waters have destroyed thousands of hectares of crops and shattered countless livelihoods.

The torrents have washed away homes, schools, roads, bridges, and other facilities. Deadly landslides have also taken a heavy toll. Entire villages have been submerged and many towns inundated. The raging waters have displaced millions and caused death, destruction, and disease everywhere. These are the deadliest floods in the history of Pakistan and this disaster is considered much worse than the 2005 earthquake.

According to United Nations reports, the number of people suffering from the flooding exceeds the total of those affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

To support these people, students of Preston University, Ajman have come together and started a campaign called the ‘’Pakistan Flood Relief Campaign.’’ These students are collecting donations of both money and basic commodities. They are so energized and passionate in their pursuit to secure goods for the victims that they are working day and night and donating everything they can in order to help. Because the situation becoming more precarious with each passing day, our students are growing more unified and working even harder to save and support the unfortunate flood victims.

May Allah grant his numerous blessings on this country and save everyone stuck in these floods. Let’s join hands and make a difference in the lives of these victims.
