Students of the Department of Fashion Design have done us proud again at the Abaya Design Awards in Abu Dhabi. Out of three students who made it to the finals, Ms Naznin Akhtar was announced the winner. Another DFD graduate, Ms Madiha Noori, comfortably managed to earn second runner up honors. Ms. Mannan Firdous was a very strong contender as well.

Naznin’s draping skills clearly stood out in her Abaya with exquisite drapery and a subtle yet whimsical use of crystals in various colors. The ensemble was a winner’s take on balancing style and elegance. On the other hand, Madiha’s garment stood out with its elaborate and detailed surface ornamentation. The ensemble had a classic look with strong styling and confident texture.

The Fashion Design Department constantly encourages and supports its students to actively participate at all contests or events around the UAE, providing invaluable experience and training to its students while developing a highly robust portfolio for itself.
