Battle Of The Bands

An event any band always looks forward to participating in was the "Battle of the Bands" held at BITS, Pilani-Dubai on March 26 2010. The venue was their football field complete with a huge stage that featured power amplifiers with 50,000 watts of sound, and included stage monitors and a full drum kit. The most attractive thing was the array of stage lighting which made the audience and performers alike start "head-banging" because of the enormous and colorful flashes.

SURGE
-The Band, which proudly represented Preston University-Ajman, took part and showed off their rocking talents for the large audience at BITS. As they did their own head-banging, dancing, and jumping all over the stage, they played several medleys from the 80s and 90s featuring cover tunes from various artists such as White Stripes, Ali Azmat, and Nirvana. They also performed some other tracks from The Cranberries, Zombie, and "Sweet Child o Mine" by Guns N' Roses. Supporters from Preston-Ajman were there to cheer the band and screamed-out "GO SURGE, GO SURGE". Clearly, the crowd was "into it" as audience members could be seen singing along and waving their arms left-to-right. After SURGE left the stage they received many compliments from the other bands and fans who said they really liked their choice of songs. The only disappointment came when SURGE lost the competition...but that did not mean they lost their fans. It really was a matter of teamwork and enjoying the on-stage experience. They gave it their very best. The true motive for going to BITS was to get public exposure, showcase their talent, and announce the launch of SURGE!
