Allama Iqbal Day was celebrated in Preston University. It was a solemn occasion in which both students and faculty members participated. Students delivered lectures, made Bait Bazi, conveyed the message of the poet of the East and presented tarana. The program Organizer, Mr. Sarwar Hussain introduced the poet in detail to the audience. His speech was very thought-provoking. Mr. Kashif Qureshi read out, the significant lines of Shikwa jawab e Shikva, the magnum- opus of the poet, and explained them. The Director General, Mr Sajjad Hussain  focused the message of the poet which he had intended for the youth and appealed the students to follow it. Dr. Haider Head of the department of English made a critical discourse of Iqbal as a poet, and held him to the height of some great English poets. Dr. Wasim, Head of the department of Islamic Studies gave the farewell speech and thanked the audience. The prizes were distributed by Dr. Wasim and the chief guest, Hena Azher a modern Urdu poetess.
