Students currently registered in the Management of Training class in the MBA specialization of Human Resource Management organized a Road Safety for University Drivers seminar on December 21, 2010. The objective of the seminar was to apply the theories learned by the students. In the planning process, Mutayeb Maqbool came up with the idea of highlighting the issue of road safety, thereby taking drivers as a subject, rendering their entity a great importance and from there the whole idea started. Preparations soon began and all students participated with great enthusiasm. Khizer Iqbal invited Mr. Abdul Majid Kafayat Mustafa, the Recruitment Specialist for the Dubai Road and Transport Authority, as the guest lecturer. Mr. Abdul Majid is one of the University’s alumni who completed BBA and MBA degrees specializing in Human Resource Management.
The overall coordination of the seminar was done by Sajida Maqbool. Registration of the participants and preparation of the training kits were handled by Tanzeela Adeel and Zara Nasir. Erum Zaidi was the MC for the program. During the seminar, Sameera Fazal did the acknowledgements of the participants and explained the house rules while Wafa Mehmood handled the certificate distribution.
During the seminar, University Director General Mr Sajjad delivered an inspirational talk recognizing the great importance of the services rendered by University drivers. The coordinator of the Business Administration Department, Dr. Tariq Mehmood, also delivered a short, inspiring message.
There were 17 drivers who were recognized for excellence in the performance of their service. Each of them received certificates, gifts of perfumes from the sponsorship of the Swiss Perfumes Company which was coordinated by Wael Mostafa. Seventeen bronze medals were also awarded to them and three gold medals were awarded to Mr. Habib Ur Rehman, Mr. Naeemullah Farooqi, and to Mr. Sattar Uddin Sultan Ghani for superb observance of traffic rules. All the medals were sponsored by Nazeer Eyad from Nazeerwatches in Dubai. The entire award ceremony was facilitated by Muluget Tesfaye and Sherihan Mahmood.
Sana Akbar delivered the closing remarks. She gave thanks to the management and other staff who made the seminar successful. After the seminar, dinner was served through the sponsorship of Syed Fazal Ali (an alumnus) of Haji Biryani Restaurant. Fahad Alam and Mary Lalitha also assisted with the dinner arrangements.
This seminar activity gave the Management of Training students greater confidence in their field of specialization.
